Valborg

Pretty much a week after it took place,
I finally get my thumb out of my ass (Swenglish, you gotta love it).
Here it is: Valborg!
All pictures courtesy of Dau.

In English, Valborg is called Walpurgis Night.
Traditionally, you light big bonfires,
but nowadays you just use it as an excuse to get shitfaced.
Valborg is particularly big in the university cities,
so if you're in the Stockholm area the 30th of April,
you should really take time and come to Uppsala!
The day is so popular, that we even celebrate the day before,
calling it Kvalborg (Kval- as in the trial for sports competitions).

In Uppsala, it's tradition for students to go rafting on Fyrisån.
They build the rafts themselves,
so don't expect any genius constructions...

This year I went to watch the rafting together with Sara, Sige Fuckface and Dau.

Dau is our unofficial court photographer,
so she won't show up in any pics.
Just saying.

One group had built a raft in the form of an excavator,
with the arm movable!

They used it to try to smash the rafts in front of them.
It was really cool.

We initially wanted to sit close to one of the small waterfalls along Fyris,
but we got there too late. It's really crowded during Valborg.
We still got a great seat, and even managed to see a few wrecks.

See the guys below?

They had built a stadium, where they played some sort of... sport.
It included a ball, anyway.
They had even painted thousands of tiny people on the stands,
it looked awesome.

The Banana Split monkeys were adorable.

Then came something I wasn't really sure what it was at first.

Then I looked closer.
The theme for these guys' raft was...
Japan!
It was complete with a smoking nuclear plant,
large cracks in the ground,
and a gigantic wave rushing towards the land.
I was a bit uncertain if it was okay to joke about it...
Got to think of the PC, you know.

But after Japan came...

The small, annoying elephant from Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter!
FMÄFÄFE is an old children's programme from the 70's,
it's supposed to help kids learn how to read.
Check it out:

Told you he was annoying...

Energizer bunnies

Fuuuuuckface.

Angry Birds

A cool motorcycle, with a side-car

These people had a pillow fight! 8D

Nagelfar D:

In nordic mythology, Nagelfar is a ship built by the queen of the underworld, Hel, from dead men's fingernails.
... Yeah.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Chinese Indians!

Willy Wonka and his Oompa-Loompas

The Dala horse with its Dala men 8D

Hippies in a minivan

Lego 8D

The lego raft was really crafty,
the bricks were detachable,
so you could actually build new designs with it!

TMNT

After the rafting, everyone goes to one of the parks on campus,
where they sit and drink and party together.
Some also go to the Champagne races,
where you drink buckloads of, you guessed it, Champagne,
and spray it at each other.

zoo-bie in prison?!

Hey guys, how are you doing this wonderful Cinco de Mayo?
What do you even celebrate on Cinco de Mayo?

Hey, have you ever imagined what it would be like if you were in prison?
Because of my sinful living, this is of course something I have to worry about constantly.
I don't think rapes are common in women's prisons.
Or are they?
So I guess my life wouldn't be very hard.
I'd just be careful not to piss anyone off,
I wouldn't want to share a cell with Avocado.

Would you visit me if I went to prison?
I won't be able to wait until visitation time! 8D

If you went to prison, what would it be for?

Galago No. 103

New no. of the comic magazine Galago today!

The theme of this issue was "Fuck the bourgeois", or something like it.
Kind of obvious, with the strong woman from the working class,
red from anger or socialism (or maybe both),
fed up with carrying the weight of society and finally breaking free.
Rather angled, but what do you expect from a self-proclaimed 'radical' magazine?

Totally hilarious issue.
Pick it up if you've got the chance!

Morning Glory...

... is seriously overrated. Now: yoga.

This is probably as extreme as it will get today.
